Overview

Residents were invited to have their say on the Liquor Legislation review, which will consider how to improve the NWT’s liquor laws related to: 

• possession 
• consumption 
• sale and purchase 
• manufacture 
• importation 
• distribution of liquor in the NWT 

The review will not look for solutions to liquor-related issues (e.g. addictions treatment and impaired driving) over which NWT liquor legislation does not have authority. Such items are governed by other legislation, or they intentionally rest outside legislation. 

Input Received

The results from this engagement have been summarized in a What We Heard Report. 

Next Steps

• The combined results of all research activities, including the engagement results, will form the recommendations of the Liquor Legislation Review
• Recommendations will be released by the GNWT in mid-2022..
