The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) sought feedback from stakeholders and the public on the Real Estate Agents’ Licensing Act (REALA) to determine if the Act provides adequate protection to consumers and the public while effectively regulating the real estate industry in the Northwest Territories. Feedback will determine whether a legislative update is needed.
Have Your Say
NWT residents were invited to provide input by filling out the survey between February 27 and April 17, 2023.
Next Steps
MACA has decided to move forward with a full legislative review of the Act, including legislative amendment in the 20th Legislative Assembly.

The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs previously committed to engaging with those in the real estate industry and the broader public to get a better understanding of how residents and those in the industry feel about how the real estate industry is regulated in the NWT. Our first step is to identify any existing or emerging issues within the industry. Your feedback on the following questions will help us with this review. Once we receive your feedback, we can determine the next steps.
We ask that you complete the survey by March 31, 2023.
