There are a few different options for you to provide input on the 2027-2028 budget:
Complete the online survey
You can complete our brief online survey to provide input on how the government should manage its finances, where spending should be prioritized, and how we can make careful trade-offs. Your feedback will help guide decisions about programs, services, and investments that matter to you and your community.
Dates and times for additional in-person meetings will be posted at a later date. The Minister will also be hosting dedicated engagement sessions with representatives from Indigenous Governments, Community Governments, Business and Industry, NGOs.
Background
The Northwest Territories is undergoing a period of economic transition as major resource projects wind down, global uncertainty grows, and costs continue to rise. At the same time, new opportunities are emerging through partnerships, infrastructure investment, and a renewed focus on building resilient communities and a more diversified economy for the future.
The Budget Dialogues 2026 provide an opportunity to share your views on how the GNWT can use its budget to support these emerging opportunities in a way that delivers value and advances the Priorities of the 20th Legislative Assembly.
Next Steps
The 2027-2028 Budget will be tabled during the Feb/Mar 2027 Session of the 20th Legislative Assembly. A What We Heard Report summarizing key findings and recommendations will also be released to the public in Fall 2026. The information will be used to help ensure that every dollar spent translates into meaningful improvements in the daily lives of our residents.
