The new Child Support Recalculation Service will allow for child support payment amounts to be automatically recalculated using parents updated income information every year for eligible support orders and agreements. This free service will be helpful to parents and children as it will eliminate the need for parents to return to court for an order to change child support amounts, in some situations.

The proposed regulations set out the rules on how the Child Support Recalculation Service will operate.

The feedback collected will help inform any potential amendments to the proposed draft regulations.

Once the regulations are finalized, the Department of Justice is planning to launch the service later in the summer of 2022 – eligible child support orders made under territorial legislation will be able to register with the service at that time; orders made under the federal legislation will not be able to register with the service until an MOU is established with the federal government (expected for fall 2022).
