  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

Indigenous and scientific knowledge tells us that the climate is changing quickly in the world because of specific human activities such as burning fossil fuels (e.g. natural gas, gasoline, oil, coal); deforestation; intense livestock production, waste and our way of consuming a lot of goods.

Indigenous, local and scientific knowledge tells us that our climate is changing quickly and dramatically in the North. The Arctic is warming up to three to four time faster than the rest of the world. This contributes to:

    • More frequent and intense extreme weather events (e.g. wildfires, floods, heat waves, violent storms)
    • Significant changes in the environment (less sea ice, changes in wildlife population and migration patterns, permafrost thaw, shorter winter)

This survey aims to better understand how climate change is impacting your life as a Northern resident. Your answers will be valuable and used by the GNWT to inform a territory-wide Climate Risk and Opportunities Assessment (the Assessment). The Assessment will help the GNWT identify shared adaptation priorities for the NWT to prepare and adapt to these changes.

This survey will take about 15-20 min to complete.

If you enter your contact info at the end of the survey, you will participate in a prize draw.  The prize package includes:

    • A programmable thermostat
    • A 10-watt foldable solar panel
