The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking input on the proposed socio-economic mitigation strategies for the Mackenzie Valley Highway (MVH) project.
A series of socio-economic mitigation strategies and commitments have been proposed as part of a Community Readiness Strategy, which is intended to mitigate the potential negative socio-economic effects of the Project and enhance the potential positive effects. The GNWT is seeking feedback on the components of the Community Readiness Strategy and how it could address potential socio-economic effects of the proposed MVH Project.
Have Your Say
Community meetings will be held in various communities and will be an opportunity for the GNWT to provide an update on the MVH project and discuss the proposed socio-economic mitigation measures, while receiving feedback from residents.

Background
The MVH project is a proposed two-lane gravel highway, approximately 321km in length that will extend north from Wrigley to Norman Wells. An all-season road is anticipated to provide improved access between communities and provide more social and recreational opportunities. It is also anticipated to provide local employment and business opportunities associated with construction of the road and once the road opens.
Next Steps
Feedback collected at those sessions and by email will inform the development of the Community Readiness Strategy for the MVH Project.
