Overview

Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) is proposing amendments to the Western Canada Lottery Act Regulations to establish a minimum age of 18 years for the purchase of Western Canada Lottery products, and a minimum age of 16 years for the sale of those products.

MACA has completed drafting of the proposed regulations and is seeking public engagement on the proposal. The public engagement period was from May 17, 2022 to June 13, 2022.

Have Your Say

NWT residents were invited to provide feedback on the proposed amendments to the Western Canada Lottery Act Regulations between May 17, 2022 and June 13, 2022.

Next Steps

At the conclusion of the public engagement process, MACA will compile a What We Heard Report and publish it on the website for transparency purposes. If the feedback is generally supportive of the proposed amendments, MACA will work with the Department of Justice to bring these amendments into force, and retailers and the public will be informed when this will take place. Should the feedback propose changes that are significantly different than what MACA is proposing, then MACA will make further determinations on how to proceed.
