Overview
Have your say on The Northwest Territories (NWT) Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA).
Have Your Say
You are invited to provide input by filling out a survey.
Background
The Department of Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA) is conducting an update of the 2014 HIRA to ensure identified hazards throughout the NWT reflect the current environment, which will serve to improve emergency preparedness and response procedures and plans.
This assessment provides an examination of the risks that pose the greatest threat to the people, property, environment, and economy of the NWT. The assessment is a critical part of the Government of the NWT’s (GNWT) emergency management program. Identified hazards are considered in developing territorial preparedness programs, mitigation strategies, emergency response plans, exercises, and training and awareness programs.
Emergency preparedness is everyone’s responsibility. It is important for NWT residents and governments to know and understand the risks they face so that they can better prepare and respond to emergencies when they happen.
Next Steps
The engagement results will be summarized in a final report.
