Budget Dialogues 2025

Introduction

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is preparing its next budget for 2026-2027. We want your input to help guide decisions about programs, services, and investments that matter to you and your community.

Government borrowing and debt

The GNWT’s spending currently exceeds its revenues, and overall debt is expected to increase. Borrowing can support important services and projects, but it may also reduce flexibility for future spending decisions.

  • access to health care
  • addressing the effects of trauma
  • safe residents and communities.
