Have your say on how the GNWT provides financial assistance to NWT residents during emergencies. Your input will help us develop programs that are more responsive and meet your needs.
The Evacuee Travel Support Program (ETSP) and the Evacuee Income Disruption Support Program (EIDS) were created to provide Northwest Territories residents with financial help during the evacuation events in spring and summer 2023. But we know they weren't perfect. People told us that:
The application process was hard.
The rules for the programs were confusing.
Not everyone got money quickly.
People didn't always know if they were eligible or what the programs covered.
Next Steps
The review is expected to be completed by Spring 2024. A What We Heard Report summarizing key findings and recommendations will also be released to the public. The information will be used to help ensure that future financial supports meet the needs of NWT residents.
