Mackenzie Valley Highway Project
The proposed Mackenzie Valley Highway (MVH) will be a two-lane gravel highway from Wrigley to Norman Wells approximately 321 kilometres in length. Currently, the project is undergoing an Environmental Assessment by the Mackenzie Valley Environmental Impact Review Board (Review Board).
The GNWT is looking for input from Indigenous governments, Indigenous organizations, the public, and other project stakeholders. Feedback collected will be considered alongside Traditional Knowledge studies and socio-economic research to inform the design of the Mackenzie Valley Highway, as well as the Developers Assessment Report (DAR). The DAR will summarize the proposed development, examine potential environmental impacts, and propose ways to mitigate impacts.
To advance this work, the GNWT sought input on the proposed highway route and associated construction activities. This included the proposed alignment, locations of quarries / borrow sources, construction activities (clearing, construction camps, laydown areas, water use and waste management), and any other public concerns or interests.
