Background

Residents are encouraged to take part in a public survey and submit their suggestions for the following buildings:

  1. The new 50-Plex, Opening 2027 - 5022 50 St, Yellowknife, NT X1A 1S5
    This building includes 50 units of social housing: 25 barrier-free for seniors, 25 for small families, and ground-floor access to Housing NWT’s North Slave District Office and the Yellowknife Housing Authority Office.

  2. Aspen Apartments - 5204 51 St, Yellowknife, NT X1A 1T8
    Originally named by the Federal Government, this building includes 36 units of social housing.
  • Feedback will be reviewed and summarized by the NWT Honours Advisory Council.
  • A final recommendation from the NWT Honours Advisory Council will be provided to the Minister Responsible for Housing.
  • The Minister will be responsible for bringing this decision to Cabinet.
  • Once approved, the new name will be announced publicly through a News Release and social media content. New signage for the buildings will also be developed.
